Any tasting notes that appear against the beers are the personal opinions of the authors. If the authors disagree on any aspect then their initials appear before their individual opinion.

Berenbier - 9% alc/vol

Bière De Pâques - 7% alc/vol View Label 14 Kb

Comments - Tasteful label shows three geese, entitled "Friends". Best served 8-10°C. First brewed in 1991. Sold as 1549 in the USA.
Tasting Notes - An interesting brew which doesn’t really live up to its "special" beer status. Enough taste to keep you interested and a bitter finish which entices you to drink more. KBR: Has a somewhat over-fruity tang which can grow tiresome. JDW: At 18 months it is a superb mellow tasting ale.

Bière Des Ours - 8.4% alc/vol View Label 19 Kb

Comments - Name translates as Bear Beer. Sold as Berenbier (Flemish for Bear Beer) when sold in Flanders, although at the time of going to press we do not know how different the label will be. The brewery suggests it should be served at 8-10°C.
Tasting Notes - An accomplished beer which oozes quality yet retains a small brewery taste. Addition of sediment makes a marked difference, derogatory in our view, adding spice and a cloying tanginess.

Blonde - 6.5% alc/vol View Label 22 Kb

Comments - Sold as Fakir in Flanders and Canada. Also relabelled as La Molagnarde Blonde. First brewed in 1989.
Tasting Notes - Great straight from the fridge as it loses a little of the freshness when it warms. Has a good texture and a lovely citric quality. KBR: This is the blonde to which others should aspire.

Brune - 8.2% alc/vol View Label 21 Kb

Comments - Also relabelled as La Molagnarde Brune.
Tasting Notes - Rich, very malt-based beer with strong roast and coffee notes. Wonderfully smooth, creamy texture. Has a surprising spicy hop character for a brune, giving it an extra dimension.

La Cisterciènne Bruna

La Cisterciènne Clara

Cuvée de l'A.R.T.E.

Cuvée de Trazegnies Spéciale Noël - 8.5% alc/vol

Flora - 7% alc/vol

Tasting Notes - Very reminiscent of Bière De Pâques. Lovely mellow maltiness is complemented with a good resiny hop which comes to the fore in the finish. Lovely soft creamy texture.

Rose des Remparts - 4.5% alc/vol

Spéciale Noël - 8.5% alc/vol View Label 18 Kb

Comments - Sold as Reserve, in USA. Brewed in November for European consumption but there is a batch brewed in July specifically for export to the Canadian market due to the transport/delivery time.
Tasting Notes - Classic, warming winter spicy ale with plenty of depth in its character. JDW: Let down a little by an excess of roasted character.
